ASEAN League round 13 best performance: Michael Singletary (by Interperformances)- February 16, 2020
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Fubon Braves (#3, 9-8) 90-86. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Mono Vampire to consolidate first place in the ASEAN League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Mono Vampire has a very solid 11-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Singletary had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Mono Vampire, through which he has constantly improved. Former Texas Tech University star has very solid stats this year. Singletary is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.5ppg), rebounds (9th best: 10.1rpg) and averages impressive 51.5% FGP. Worth to mention Singletary played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Will Artino (211-C/F-92) of WM Dragons. Artino had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 16 rebounds. Of course WM Dragons cruised to a 79-68 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Singapore S. (#7, 6-7). WM Dragons' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Artino is a newcomer at WM Dragons, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.8ppg (#3). He also registered 13.4 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was American guard O.J. Mayo (193-G-87) of Fubon Braves (#3). Mayo showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in the last round. Despite Mayo's great performance Fubon Braves lost 86-90 to #1 ranked Mono Vampire. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Fubon Braves needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 8 lost games. Mayo has a great season in ASEAN League. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.1ppg (6th best). He also has FGP: 53.6% and 3PT: 44.4%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Charles Garcia (208-F-88) of Fubon Braves - 22 points and 9 rebounds 5. Mike Morrison (206-C-89) of Mono Vampire - 11 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Amir Bell (193-G-96) of WM Dragons - 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists 7. Cade Davis (197-F/G-88) of WM Dragons - 21 points and 6 rebounds 8. Tyler Lamb (196-G-91) of Mono Vampire - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Xavier Alexander (198-G-88) of Singapore S. - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Maxie Esho (206-F/C-91) of Fubon Braves - 17 points and 9 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
